The percentage your property value may have increased (or deceased) by does not mean that your yearly property tax will increase (or decrease) by the same percentage.
Yearly property tax is determined by the rates tariff (Cents in the Rand) for the particular financial year as approved by Council, multiplied by your property value.
At present the tariff is .0106 cents in the rand, which was a 9% increase over the previous year’s rates tariff.
Therefore how much property tax you will pay as from June 2019, the new financial year, will only be known once the 2019/2020 budget and rate tariff has been approved by Council.
