As usual there was a big turnout by Kleinemonders to the annual Mayoral Imbizo where the mayor would, according to the invitation, be interacting with communities on Budget for 2022/2023 financial year.
Disappointingly the Mayor never appeared at the Imbizo – no reason or excuse given. Present were representatives from all the municipal directorates. Director Vithi, Infrastructure Development, took it upon herself to chair the meeting.

Chairman’s Report 2021
Although we, due to Covid lockdown regulations, did not have an AGM at the end of 2020, the committee did carry on functioning as usual since the first lockdown regulations were imposed in March 2020.
Over the past two years 7 Newsletters and 25 notices, informing members of specific issues, were sent out to keep everyone informed on what’s happening in Kleinemonde.

In response to our request to have the entrance roads to the parking area and portion of the parking area cleared by the municipality under the emergency work programme, the application was turned down by the Department of Environmental Affairs. The municipality must re-submit an application to the Department indicating the proposed method which will be used to clear the area in question.

At a Zoom meeting held recently with representatives from the areas affected and Director Community Protection Services (CPS), the following feedback was given by CPS on the way forward:

The proposed tariff increases are 5,5 % on all services provided by the municipality, including:

Municipal Budget
The 2020/2021 Municipal Budget was tabled at a Council meeting held (via ZOOM) on Wednesday, 20 May 2020.
This tabled budget is a draft budget allowing for public comment
before final approval.
The following increases in the tabled (draft) budget were approved:
